Astoria Pretty

all the little reasons we stick around (in spite of the trashed streets and vinyl overhangs)

Not to be outdone by the rest of Astoria’s (belated) participation in the fro-yo craze, Ditmars is getting its own frozen yogurt shop—right under the subway on 31st St., called 32 Degrees, which claims it will have 46 flavors (What are you going to do about that, 16 Handles?). Let’s hope it fares well; it will be well welcomed after the building’s previous tenants vacated the space. A fro-yo place is better than a shuttered storefront any day!

16 Handles is coming to Astoria. Get excited! (30th Ave. and 37th St.)

Any reviews for Twirlz? Only 19 people have checked here on foursquare (the Mayor has only checked in five times, so this place is essentially up for grabs, people) and Yelp gives it a solid four stars. With this summer weather and Twirlz’s thankfully-nowhere-near-as-ridiculous-as-Pinkberry prices and buy-one-get-one-free Wednesdays, you can’t really go wrong, can you?
And intrigue on Basil Brick Oven Pizza (not yet open, pictured next door) — there’s not much Internet chatter about it, but there is an unfinished website.
